KnowBe4 Training Help

Rivier has partnered with Cybersecurity Awareness Training leader KnowBe4.

Is email from KnowBe4 legitimate?

Rivier University has partnered with KnowBe4 to provide training to all employees. All employees will be required to complete 3-4 cybersecurity training modules a year (several in the month of October for Cybersecurity Awareness Month). Additionally, all employees will receive about one “simulated phishing email” per month. Any employee who replies to or clicks on a link or attachment in the simulated phishing email will be enrolled in supplemental training.

Additionally, new employees will be enrolled in:

  • Technology Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) Acknowledgement
  • FERPA Privacy Compliance Training
  • Training on Microsoft Report Message: How to Report Junk or Phishing Email

How do I log into KnowBe4 training?

The link is the same for all employees: https://training.knowbe4.com/auth/saml/556144ffd1b86

NOTE: Do NOT use the login page at https://training.knowbe4.com or https://training.knowbe4.com/users/login. Always use the link above, the same as what is sent in the email.

I am told that my KnowBe4 account does not exist or is blocked.

You may be signed into an email address other than your Rivier one. Please head to https://outlook.office.com and make sure you are signed into your Rivier account. If not, please sign out of your mailbox. Then, try the KnowBe4 login again.

Still can’t sign in? Please email itsupport@rivier.edu.

Why does Rivier “Phish-Test” its employees?

Phishing is a cyber attack that uses disguised email as a weapon. The goal is to trick the email recipient into believing that the message is something they want or need — a request from their bank, for instance, or a note from someone in their company — and to click a link or download an attachment.

Rivier University employs multiple layers of protection against information security threats such as phishing email. Some technological layers include our advanced network firewall, our cloud email filters, and our client antivirus solutions. Despite all of these layers of protection, we cannot block every threat.

This is why we provide an additional layer of protection: empowering end users like you to detect and report suspicious email. End users are the human firewall. Phish testing help us determine which employees need additional training. We selected KnowBe4 as our security partner because it provides a world-class system of phishing simulations, analysis, reporting, and training modules.

Phish testing and end-user training is an industry standard practice for higher education institutions and other organizations. The Rivier University insurance companies and financial auditors also ask that we phish-test/train our users. We strive to make the process educational, fun, and minimally intrusive. The purpose is to educate, not shame users who fall for a simulated phishing link.

I am a former employee / Professor Emeritus. Do I need to complete training?

Former employees who still have a Rivier email address will continue to be phish-tested and receive some training. For questions, please contact itsupport@rivier.edu.

I am a student. Will I be “Phish-Tested” or receive training?

We do not currently phish-train our students. Please check back as this could change in the future.

Students who are interested in obtaining optional security awareness training can contact itsupport@rivier.edu.
