How to change your default web browser on Windows 11

Changing Default Browser in Windows 11:

  1. Access Settings:
    • Click on the Start button in the bottom-left corner of your screen and select the gear icon to open the Settings menu.
  2. Navigate to Apps:
    • In the Settings menu, click on “Apps” from the left sidebar.
  3. Choose Default Apps:
    • In the Apps menu, select “Default apps” from the right sidebar.
  4. Find Web Browser:
    • Scroll down until you find the app you want to set as your default browser, or search for it in the “Search apps” box.
  5. Set as default browser:
    • Click on the browser you want as your default. At the top it should say “Make (this browser) your default browser”. Click “Set default”
  6. Confirm Changes:
    • Once you’ve selected your preferred browser, close the Settings window. Your changes are automatically saved.
  7. Test Your Default Browser:
    • Open any web link from an external source to ensure that it now opens in your selected default browser.
