How to Prevent Outlook from Automatically Adding a Teams Meeting

Recently, Microsoft has decided that every scheduled meeting is a Teams meeting. If you don’t want Outlook to automatically populate the meeting with Teams information, here’s how you can turn this feature off:

Microsoft Outlook Desktop Client

  1. Open Outlook. From the menu, choose File -> Options
  2. From the Outlook Options window that appears, click Calendar
  3. Under Calendar options, uncheck the top item, “Add online meeting to all meetings”
  4. Click OK

Microsoft Outlook on the Web

  1. Open your Rivier email at https://outlook.office.com
  2. Click the gear on the top right of the page in the ribbon, then click “View all Outlook settings”
  3. In settings, click Calendar
  4. Under Events and invitations, uncheck the top item, “Add online meeting to all meetings”
  5. There is no save button–you can now close the settings window and return to Outlook on the web
