Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
Rivier University offers Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to faculty, staff, and students for off-campus access. Please see the new instructions below. Note: Most students do not need to use AVD; please check with your instructor if you are unsure.
NEW for 2025: To connect to Rivier University systems from off campus, please use the new Windows App.
Windows
- Download and install Windows App from the Microsoft Store.
- Follow the instructions provided in the link above to sign in and connect.
- Double-click the appropriate virtual desktop:
- University Desktops for all students
- CS Desktops for students in certain majors who use these desktops
- Employee Desktops for all faculty and staff
- Vendor Desktops for vendors
Mac OS
- Download and install Windows App from the Mac App Store.
- Follow the instructions provided in the link above to sign in and connect.
Chromebook
- Download and install Windows App from the Google Play Store.
- Follow the instructions provided in the link above to sign in and connect.
All Other Devices (No Install Required)
- Access AVD through a web browser here: https://windows.cloud.microsoft/
