How to Create or Join a Microsoft Teams Team

Creating a New Team

Users are temporarily prevented from creating new teams. If you are a faculty, staff, or student looking to start a new team, please contact itsupport@rivier.edu and request that we create a new team for you. In your email, please state the requested team name, the additional members of the team (and which ones you’d like to be owners of the team), and a brief description of the purpose of your team.

Team requests will be reviewed by the IT department. You will be contacted when your team is ready or if we need additional information.

Joining an Existing Team

If you believe you should be a member of an existing team, please contact the team’s owner or a member of the team. If you are unable to find a contact from the team, please email itsupport@rivier.edu and we will assist you.

Leaving a Team

Membership of some Microsoft Teams is voluntary. Other teams are departmental or institutional and you cannot remove yourself from the team.
